What is the Parameter Manager in Marketing Cloud?
The release of Salesforce Marketing Cloud in January 2020 introduced the Parameter Manager. This new addition facilitates the setup and modification of tracking parameters appended to your links within the Marketing Cloud, streamlining the management of your tracking links and eliminating dependence on support response times. What previously took days can now be accomplished in minutes.
Now, accessing the Parameter Manager is straightforward. Simply hover over your username in the top-right corner and select “Setup.”
Once in Setup, navigate to “Data Management.” You will find “Parameter Manager” listed at the bottom under the “Key Management” section.
How to setup Parameter Manager?
You can set up and edit the tracking string applied to your Brand Tag (email_XtraLinkParameters) for your Marketing Cloud business unit’s emails. Navigate to Setup >> Data Management >> Parameter Management. Here you can change the information added to click outs via the Web Analytics Connector.
To add the subscriberKey as a parameter add the following to the string below. You can choose another name for the parameter, but choose mcparam to store this variable.
&mcparam=%%subscriberkey%%

Now that we have setup the parameter management all click outs via the Email Studio will be supplied with the new variable. These parameters can be then used via Tag Managers or by your web team.
